about
"Can't Be Too Careful" draws from the 70's era, the Rock & Roll anthems you might hear blaring through the speakers of a muscle car cruising down a Los Angeles’ freeway, sweat gathering at the back of your knees from the unrelenting summer heat. The bass line comes thumping through, dashboard papers vibrating from the sound, and your hand, like a magnet, reaches for the volume dial and inches clockwise…
lyrics
Verse
I mind my “P’s” and “Q’s”,
I dot my “i” ‘s and “j” ‘s
I cross my “t”’s I hold my tongue
Don’t call me mother by her name
Can’t be too careful
No, Can’t be too careful these days
I boil my water cold,
I keep my curtains closed,
when I see trouble, (I) turn around and I walk out that door.
Can’t be too careful
No, Can’t be too careful these days
Chorus
But ain’t no safety coats,
raft or riverboats,
no parachutes, stop signs, or stop lights.
Just ain’t no savin’ you,
when it comes to the one you love.

Ain’t no holdin’ rope,
to keep someone from letting go.
Just ain’t no savin’ you,

When it comes to the one you love...
(Can’t be too careful, you can’t be too careful x 2)

The first time I heard the solemn opening bars of "Procession," I knew Childqueen was unlike any music I'd heard before. Kadhja Bonet infuses beautiful, slow funk and soul sounds with an almost druidic, Enya-like sense of mystery, with lyrical themes that range from gestures toward unspoken interpersonal truths to the ancient secrets of the forest. For me the stand-out track is "Delphine," an aching, scintillating ballad that I would currently rank as my favorite love song ever. Dominique Cyprès
